Ebrook Osteopathy and Sports Clinic is a complimentary health service located in Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield. We have been serving our local community since 2014; helping people to live better in their bodies. Patients present to our clinic for a wide variety of reasons; lower back pain, neck pain and headaches, the pain of arthritis, sciatica, back pain in pregnancy, and sports injuries are all very common for our practitioners to see.
Osteopathy is a medical system of diagnosing, treating and preventing problems and pain in joints, muscles, tendons and nerves. Osteopathy is a legally regulated profession; and all our osteopaths are registered with the General Osteopathic Council. In 2017, Osteopaths became a recognised by the NHS as Allied Health Professionals, although the majority of Osteopaths continue to work in private clinics.
A treatment begins with a detailed case history with your Osteopath, so they can fully understand the presentation of your pain. Your Osteopath will ask about the distribution and the daily pattern of your pain – then in conjunction with this information, they will perform basic orthopaedic tests to determine a working diagnosis.
Osteopathic treatment itself is gentle, and suitable for almost every body. Our practitioners use a combination of soft tissue massage techniques, and gentle joint articulation and manipulation techniques to improve a body’s movement and function. Some of our practitioners have gone on to do additional training in sports taping and Western Medical Acupuncture to give them more tools to use in practice.
All of our practitioners are trained to give patients rehabilitative exercises to do at home to complement their treatment in clinic. These exercises enable our patients to feel better much quicker than if they were reliant on treatment alone – and allow them to be in more control of their recovery process. To help our patients complete these, our practitioners collate their programmes so that they are accessible to watch as videos through our mobile app and website.
Our Sutton Coldfield clinic also boasts a team of experienced and skilled Sports Therapists, and Sports Masseuses – Sports Massage helps our patients recover from sports injuries and improve their performance. Sports injuries are our specialist area of practice – so whether you’re a professional or amateur, our team have got the programme for you to up your game. In particular, our team specialise in running, cycling, football and golf injuries, for which there is no functional problem too small to address.
The next step for many of these patients is to contract one of our personal trainers. Exercise is the key to preventing further injuries, and to strengthen a body that has previously been in pain. Our personal trainers have the expertise of working in a health-care setting – many of our patients are still rehabilitating from injury, and may not be comfortable working out in a gym. In our private studio, our trainers can safely guide them back into exercise.
We hope this has given you enough information to make your first booking at the clinic; but if there are any further questions we can answer, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
